Applying the new National Archives branding.
The new 2020 Action Plan.
What we did.
Toast has just finished creating the 2020 Action Plan for The National Archives. This was a new step for Toast and The National Archives as it involved implementing their new brand style to the booklet.
Artwork-ready PDF files were then created to the printers specifications and supplied along with a digital version for use on web and screen.
Applying the new brand style.
The new brand style relies on a grid system but has built in flexibility to enable designers to create interesting layouts and showcase the Archives images in a modern format.
Brand guidelines were supplied that provided references to colours, basic layout grid, fonts and the new logo placement. Toast then had to interpret this to create the action plan. Initial layout design concepts were supplied and developed with The National Archives to an agreed layout template. The rest of the action plan was then created to this template which enabled a quick and efficient turnaround.
We used Basecamp to help manage the action plan design project, which enables The National Archives to upload images, text and amends. When amends were posted, Toast were notified instantly and these were actioned quickly, creating a quick and successful result.
Project summary:
- Layout concepts
- Design and sign-off of agreed template
- Application of design to the rest of the booklet
- Amends and image replacement
- Creation of print ready PDF artwork
- Digital PDF version created for screen and website use
